β¦ Synopsis
The theory of the design of a mixing-chamber gradient generator is developed and generalized to match a prescribed composition pattern for several components. The conditions for feasibility of the resulting design are discussed. The theory is applied to the problem ofgenerating a three-component concentration gradient that is piecewise linear in radius for a zonal centrifuge.
