A sequential batch procedure for measuring the reactivity of flue gas desulfurization (FGD) limestone/lime absorbents by measuring the reaction rate with sulfuric acid is presented. It is shown that the method will predict the behavior of the absorbent in a wet FGD plant equipped with air oxidation

The emission of nitrogen oxides from combustion can be limited by selective catalytic reduction (SCR) and selective non-catalytic reduction (SNRJ by ammonia. In order to control the ammonia slip in these processes it is desirable to measure the ammonia outlet concentration continuously. The problems in doing this are discussed, among which are homogeneous and heterogeneous reactions of ammonia with nitric oxide in the sampling system. The design and test of a diluting flue gas probe is presented, where ammonia is converted to and detected as nitric oxide. The efficiency of various converter designs for the probe was studied in the laboratory.

## Abstract **BACKGROUND:** Ammonia is applied to increase the efficiency of an electrostatic precipitator for fly ash removal from a flue gas stream from a boiler using fossil fuel. In the present work, the hydrolysis of urea to generate ammonia for flue gas conditioning, with the help of aluminiu
