✦ Synopsis
A Disc DIRC counter is foreseen for the WASA experiment at the COSY proton storage ring in J ülich. It shall improve the proton kinetic energy measurement in the forward direction by measuring the proton speed at the two per mille level. The segmentation into four quarter-discs allows to incline the radiator relative to the incoming particles. This lowers the threshold velocity for light propagation inside the DIRC radiator. The construction of a full-scale quarter disc prototype is envisaged within a year.

A hadron blind detector (HBD) has been developed for an upgrade of the PHENIX experiment at RHIC. The detector installed in 2008 was successfully operated during the p þp run of 2009 and is presently taking AuþAu data at OsNN¼200 GeV. The HBD is a windowless Cherenkov detector, operated with pure CF
## Abstract We review the theoretical activity at the University of Castilla‐LaMancha directed to the design of the LAPLAS (Laboratory of Planetary Sciences) experiment in the framework of the HEDgeHOB international collaboration. We have developed analytical models for the different phases of LAPL
The goal of the ALICE Time-of-Flight detector, based on MRPC technology, is to perform the chargedparticle identification at midrapidity, in the region |Z|o0.9. This large area ($150 m 2 ), finely segmented detector ($157,000 channels), provides fast signals which will contribute to the Level 0 and
