A conceptual design of a solar-assisted reverse osnosis
(RO) plant is developed wherein the necessary power is provided by the combination action of a diesel engine and a solar thermal energy driven Sterling engine. The design parameters for this desalting plant are identified and a preliminary economic analysis is made.
