Abstract
In this article, the design and implementation of a highโspeed digital system including two daughter boards and a backplane are described, where the emphasis is focused on the systematic analysis of the signal integrity performance using full wave electromagnetic methods combined with circuit simulation. Shielded differential vias is presented for highโspeed digital design. The proposed digital system achieves a data rate exceeding 3 Gbps (bit per second)/pair. Deembed process is presented to improve the accuracy of simulation. The simulated and measured results in time domain are in agreement. ยฉ 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. ## Abstract Integrated circuit technology is causing system designs to move toward complex architectures, requiring communication channels characterized by ever increasing capacity. In this context, classical metallic interconnects become a bottleneck, owing to the power consumption, crosstalk, and
