Based on 1000βkV ChangzhiβNanyangβJingmen UHV AC Demonstration Project in China, this paper presents the main design principles and key technical schemes in UHV substation design, including the main electrical connection, the selection of major UHV equipments, overvoltage and insulation coordination, 1100βkV GIS layout, insulator strings design, environmental impact control and seismic design.
