✦ Synopsis

Power electronic circuits are non-linear dynamic systems. Until now, it is not usual to describe these systems by block diagrams. In this paper a new model for power electronic switches is proposed. The semiconductor devices are represented by voltage and current sources. Due to this modelling block diagrams of power electronic circuits can be drawn. These block diagrams give an insight into the dynamic behaviour of power electronic system.

A new approach for the time-domain simulation of power electronic circuits is developed. The methodology is based on stepwise identification of circuit topology. The simulation process automatically looks for a valid topology in every step. At each simulation instant, the circuit topology is transfo
