Existing calorimetric methods for the determination of boron leave much to be desired, either because of the laboriousness of the procedures or the lack of sensitivity or precision inherent in the color reaction itself. The oldest colorimetric reagent for boron is curcumin, the coloring principle in turmeric, which was only in recent years made tbc basis of a precise calorimetric method by NAFTEL~.
