โœฆ Synopsis

The Gaussian approximation is widely used as a simple method of derivation for the average bit-error rate in direct-sequence spread-spectrum communications. The Gaussian approximation cannot always derive the bit-error rate with high accuracy since the accuracy tends to be degraded with the increase of E b / N 0 when the number of interference symbols is low. This article proposes a method of theoretical analysis in which the probability density function for the composite amplitude of the interference signal is derived by faithfully following the signal processing executed in the spread-spectrum communication system, after which the bit-error rate is derived. The validity of the method is demonstrated by verifying that the bit-error rate obtained by the proposed method agrees well with the value obtained by computer simulation.
