✦ Synopsis
The Influence of Light on the iNADP+-dependent Glycerinaldehyde-3-phosphate-Dehydrogenase Summary 1. In green leaves of the Angiospermae investigated here illumination causes a reversible increase in activity of ~ADP+-dependent glycerinaldehyde-3-phosphatedehych'ogenase compared with the dark values. 2. Illumination does not show this effect on the ~AD+-dependent enzyme.
-
Changing from dark to light and vice versa the new level of activity (by the present conditions) is attained in about 20 minutes.
-
The light-induced increase of activity also takes place in C02dree atmosphere as well as after application of actinomycin C. 5. Chloramphenicol blocks the effect of light. 6. It is concluded that illumination causes an increased synthesis o~ the iNADP+dependent GPD and it is supposed that this is caused by the increased supply of cofactors.
