✦ Synopsis
Albumin-bound bilirubin was separated from free bilirubin by means of sephadex columns. Human albumin solution was the medium. Various drugs had different effects on the separation of bflirubin from albumin. Most of the drugs examined effeeted only a low degree of dissociation of albumin from bilirubin. After the addition of oxacillin or injectable diazepam solution, however, the bilirubin separation increased significantly. The dissociation was not caused by the substance of diazepam itself, but was a cumulative effect of the solubilizing agents. In addition, the albumin-bilirubin dissociation decreased on acidification.
