Erwin CarlΓ© (Pseudonym Erwin Rosen; * 7. Juni 1876[1] in Karlsruhe; β 21. Februar 1923 in Hamburg) war ein deutscher Schriftsteller und Journalist. CarlΓ© besuchte das Gymnasium in MΓΌnchen. Sein Studium musste wegen Jugendstreichen abgebrochen werden. Mit 19 wanderte er nach den USA aus. Dort schlug er sich hauptsΓ€chlich mit Gelegenheitsarbeiten durch. Er wurde Farmhand in Texas, Gehilfe der deutschsprachigen Western Post in St. Louis, Journalist in San Francisco und machte in der US Army beim Kampf um Signal Hill in Kuba seine Reportagen. Diese Erlebnisse wurden in seinem Werk Der deutsche Lausbub in Amerika festgehalten. Im Jahre 1905 trat er der Fremdenlegion bei, konnte aber nach zwei Jahren aus Sidi-Bel-AbbΓ¨s entfliehen.
