## Abstract Reduction of the α,β‐unsaturated lactone system in 1‐hydroxy‐3‐pentyl‐7,8‐dihydro‐spiro[dibenzo[b,d]pyran‐9,2′‐[1,3]dioxolan]‐6(10H)‐one (3) with lithium in liquid ammonia leads to cis products.
