## Abstract ## Objective The type II collagen (CII)βspecific monoclonal antibodies (mAb) M2139 and CIIC1 induce arthritis in vivo and degrade bovine cartilage explants in vitro, whereas mAb CIIF4 is nonarthritogenic and prevents arthritis development when given in combination with M2139 and CIIC1.

A synthetic peptide, which was shown to bind extracellular matrix heparan sulfate chains with a high degree of affinity and specificity [Colburn et al. (1996): Arch Biochem Biophys 325:129-138], has now been found to promote the transfer and the deposition of endothelial cell surface proteoglycans i
## Abstract We tested the hypothesis that exposure of a mouse preosteoblast cell line to pulsed electromagnetic fields (PEMF) would affect components of the extracellular matrix. We report that exposure of MC3T3βE1 cells to a single PEMF waveform significantly reduced the amount of mature, Ξ±1(I) co
This review summarizes the data on 278 different mutations found to date in the genes for types I, II, III, IX, X, and XI collagens from 317 apparently unrelated patients. A majority (217 mutations; 78% of the total) of the mutations are single-base and either change the codon of a critical amino ac
Objective. Human osteoarthritis (OA) is characterized by a pathologic shift in articular cartilage homeostasis toward the progressive loss of extracellular matrix (ECM). The purpose of this study was to investigate the ability of rAAV-mediated SOX9 overexpression to restore major ECM components in h
