✦ Synopsis
NOTE Deposition and Interaction of Phosphododecatungstate on a Silica Gel Surface Modified with a Silane Coupling Agent Having Anilino Groups fication. FT-IR and XPS techniques were applied to analyze the chemical features of the interaction of PW12 with the anilino group on AnPS-SiO 2 . Silica gel was chemically modified with (3-anilinopropyl)trimethoxysilane (AnPS) under a reflux of toluene (abbreviated as EXPERIMENTAL AnPS-SiO 2 ). The adsorptivity of phosphododecatungstate anion (PW12) on AnPS-SiO 2 from an aqueous solution was investigated Materials and Procedures quantitatively. The amounts adsorbed rose quite steeply to a cover-SiO 2 which was purchased from Aldrich was used (No. 643: particle size, age ( u) of 0.90 with increasing PW12 concentrations in solution,
200-425 mesh; purity, 99/%; pore volume, 1.15 cm 3 /g; pore diameter, 15 while they rose gradually to 0.33 on the unmodified SiO 2 as a nm; pH (5% slurry), 7.0; specific surface area, 300 m 2 /g, on the basis reference. It was verified, from the changes in bands due to the of data given by the supplier). (3-Anilinopropyl) trimethoxysilane anilino group in FT-IR spectra and XP-spectra, that such a strong (C 6 H 5 NH{(CH 2 ) 3 -Si(OCH 3 ) 3 ; AnPS) which was purchased from Shin- affinity was caused by acid-base interaction of PW12 with the Etsu Chemical Industry Company (KBM573: minimum covered area, 307 amino group of AnPS-SiO 2 .
