β¦ Synopsis
Studied atienta' decisions to continue treatment. Ss (N = 100) were adult, nonpsycgotic outpatients, who received individual psychotherapy at least once a week. The collected data were analyzed to identify the number of patients and the mean number of a d o m in each category of de endency and ego-strength. Findings indicated that there wm no dwect re&iomhip between patients' dependency scores and the number of sessions in sycho- thera y and between patients' ego-strength and attendance in psychotgerapy. The Xata indicated, however, that a statistically inverse relationship existed between dependency and e o-strength scores. The conclusion wm that neither dependenc nor ego-strengtfh are indicators for predicting patients' attendance in psychotgerapy, at least when the population is composed of adult, nonpsychotic Outpatients.

There have been a number of other studies reported on the use of psychological tests as predictors of patients' Continuation or termination of psychotherapy with mixed findings (Auld & Eron, 1953;
