Dependence of steroid I (2)-dehydrogenation on the C-17 side chain during cholesterol metabolism by immobilized Mycobacteriw77 fortuitum A. Srivastava and S. Patil* l(2)-Dehydrogenation of kcholestene-3-one by immobilized Myco&ucterium fortuitum NRRL B-8153 and free growing Mycobucferium sp. NRRL B-3805 and Micromonosporu chlacea MTCC 329 depended on the nature of the C-17 side chain. The l(2)-dehydrogenation did not appear to occur before C-IT-side-chain cleavage of the 4 cholestene-3-one.
