โฆ Synopsis
Abstract
The influence of the functionality of monomers used in polycondensation on the structure of the resulting polymers has been considered. The possible preparation of linear polymers is explained by the โorthoโeffectโ which assures the formation of cycloโlinear macromolecules from triโ, tetraโ and higher functional monomers as a result of heterocycle closure. A definition of functionality of monomers taking in consideration their structure and the reactivity of functional groups is proposed. The significance of functionality in the case of oligomers is discussed, and the analogy in its influence on the structure of the resulting polymers is shown.
