✦ Synopsis

The target of refining in ferrous process metallurgy are so-called common elements. Oxidation, reduction and/or vacuum treatment are utilized in the refining process. Therefore, the most basic element is oxygen dissolved in liquid iron in the refining process. Deoxidation is applied in the steelmaking process, and the data concerning these equilibrium constants have been reported by many investigators. However, these data do not fit those in the works except for silicon deoxidation. One of the reasons is that these proposed thermodynamic values are applicable within the limited concentration, and so that these data cannot apply to high alloyed steel production. The oxygenΒ±deoxidizer equilibria based on our results and the thermodynamic research subjects on purification of high alloyed steel are discussed in this paper.
