Ultrasound scanning of the liver, spleen, and subphrenic regions has proved of immense value to the clinician. Transverse and longitudinal scans are insufficient to exclude the presence of pathological lesions in the superolateral portion of the right lobe of the liver. Oblique scans parallel to
