✦ Synopsis

A synthetic barium 5-bromoindol-3-yl-P-n-glucuronate was used as the substrate for demonstration of /3-glucuronidase in disk electrophoresis. The advantages of this substrate is that it affords a precise enzyme localization with no diffusion, and, also, a simple and direct method for demonstration of this enzyme without the need for a coupling reaction.

Barium 5-bromoindol-3-yl-P-n-glucuronate was prepared as follows: Ethyl (5-bromoindol-S-y1-~,~,~-tri-O-auetyl-~-~-glucosid)uronate.

To a solution of ethanol (130 ml) containing 600 mg of KOH was added 77

The presence of two of the metabolites of heroin, free morphine and morphine 3-b-D-glucuronide (MO3G) in acidified urine samples was simultaneously determined by capillary zone electrophoresis (CZE). In a run buffer containing 50 mM sodium borate and 250 mM boric acid (pH 8.6), free morphine migrate
