✦ Synopsis
We present an optical heterodyne acousto-optic delay line performing true-time delay of microwave pulses based on the direct practical realization of the time shifting possibility embedded in the Fourier transformation of the differentially phase shifted spectrum. New feature of the system is the demonstration of continuously variable time delay by using a liquid crystal spatial light modulator. We demonstrate the concept experimentally through time shifting 1 ls long pulses in a time domain of AE300 ns.
