✦ Synopsis

All-optical OR operation has been demonstrated using a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) and delayed interferometer (DI) at 20 and 40 Gb/s. The DI is based on a polarization maintaining loop mirror. Q-factor of the operation is discussed through the numerical simulations. The results show the OR gate operation rate is limited by the carrier lifetime and the input pulse energy.

## Abstract A novel all‐optical logic OR gate based on cross‐gain modulation (XGM) using a two‐cascaded semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOAs) in a counterpropagating topology is presented. The attractive issue of the proposed method is that the logic OR gate can be obtained at a probe wavelength

## Abstract In this paper, the all‐optical realization of a logic OR gate using gain saturation in a standard semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) is successfully experimentally demonstrated. This reported feasibility study shows the all‐optical OR function can be easily achieved with an extinctio
