## Abstract The effects of fixation and dehydration procedures on heme environment inside human erythrocytes were examined using resonance Raman spectroscopy. The resonance Raman spectroscopic data along with farβinfrared spectra show that hemoglobin in airβdried red blood cells and those fixed in
