## Abstract **BACKGROUND:** Furaltadone (FD), a nitrofuran derivative, is a highly effective chemotherapeutic drug. In China the FD wastewater discharged by the pharmaceutical industry is high in organics and biorefractory compounds. The objective of this study was to investigate the degradation me
