A momentum-space Fokker-Planck equation that directly relates deep inelastic cross sections to the single-step process DWA is derived, based on the multistep direct formalism.

By using a Gaussian approximation to the distribution function a rapid analysis of experimental data becomes possible. The method is illustrated by an example. (? 1992 Academic Press, Inc.
