This paper is concerned with the inverse medium scattering problem in a perturbed, layered, half-space, which is a problem related to the seismologial investigation of inclusions inside the earth's crust. A wave penetrable object is located in a layer where the refraction index is different from the

โฆ Synopsis
In this paper, we consider the scattering properties of a dielectric perturbed halfspace situated over a perfectly conducting plane P. We first analyze the influence of a short range perturbation of the physical properties (dielectric and magnetic) of the medium on electromagnetic fields, then we investigate the case when the conducting plane is replaced by an electromagnetic grating, for a suitable polarization of the fields. In these two situations, we give an estimate for the decay of local energy.

## Abstract In this article the analytic and asymptotic properties of the resolvent for elastic waves in a three dimensional domain perturbed from the isotropic half space **R**^3^~+~ are studied. In this case, the asymptotic expansion of the resolvent at the origin has logarithmic terms. This prop
## The problem of a transient, transverse electromagnetic wave incident on a non-homogeneous half space is considered. Solutions are obtained by both the Laplace transform technique (LT) and the method of characteristics (MOC). The former method yields an infinite number of exact solutions in closed
