Thekus was not a man who would disavow his intentions. The stranger sounded as though he were well-informed. So now there wasn't much purpose in attempting any evasion. "You are the traitor," Thekus replied calmly. "You and the men behind you. I only want the best for the Empire."

He sensed that his words were spoken almost virtually into a void. He would not be able to convince the man behind that sharp borderline of shadow. He had come here with a fixed purpose in mind and he would no doubt carry it out. No more words were spoken. Admiral Thekus waited.
