Death, fed up with millions of years spent on his morbid career path, has decided to clock out for the rest of eternity. He moves to a small city in Massachusetts and befriends Tim, a local pimp and con artist. Soon he takes part in all the worldly pleasures he can find: going on dates, traveling by bus, joining cults, getting job promotions, stirring civil unrest, and running for public office. But with friends like Satan, War, Famine, and Pestilence trying to coax him out of retirement (and because of the supernatural-power-to-kill-people-by-touching-them problem he has), Death struggles to leave his past behind and join the elusive human race.
