✦ Synopsis

When a job interview ends in murder, village newcomer Verity Meadows must turn detective when she becomes the prime suspect.

After losing millions in a sophisticated embezzlement scheme, Verity Meadows is forced to sell her upmarket London home and move to a run-down cottage in the seemingly peaceful village of Hawbury. Struggling to adjust to her new life, Verity applies for a part-time job with the parish council, but her hopes of getting the job are dashed when one of her interviewers dies in mysterious circumstances before they’ve so much as glanced at Verity’s C.V.

When suspicion falls upon Verity, blundering detective, Ulysses Hodge is determined to bring her to justice, regardless of where the evidence leads.

Realising the detective is hell-bent on proving her guilt, Verity forms an unlikely alliance with the local oracle, Leeanne Keating, and together they set out to find the killer.
