The small town of Mineral Springs, Texas, will never be the same after author/ghost hunter Alice Carpenter and her cohorts in the paranormal depart. Perhaps Alice's mind is a bit muddled by Patrick, the gorgeous naked ghost and former guest of the hotel, who talked her into investigating his long-ago death. But what a mess she finds herself in. Barely an hour after she arrives, Alice is a suspect in the death of the woman they find cut in half at the bottom of an elevator in the crumbling historical hotel.

It will take the effort of her entire crew of accomplices to get her out of this mess, including her Rottweiler, Trucker, her Siamese, Miss Molly, her mentor and teacher, Aunt Twila, and Granny Chisholm. Even Alice's ex-husband, Detective Jack Robecheau, comes to her rescue when he breaks her out of jail and races off with her on his Harley. But Alice doesn't enjoy being a motorcycle mama one darn bit!

There are skunks and betrayals and even an attempted kidnapping by a band of guerilla survivalists to endure before Alice and her gang face their fate. Can they risk their own lives to bring peace to the formerly grand hotel?
