โฆ Synopsis
In particular, the book contains good reference sources and recommendations for further reading. The material is based mainly on EPA manuals from the USA, due to the lack of other sources.
Chapter 1 discusses the environmental and regulatory driving forces which must be considered, and Chapter 2 summarises the possible benefits (financial, environmental, health and safety) which can result from implementing waste minimization strategies. Chapter 3 considers the obstacles to implementing a waste minimization plan, and emphasises the need for a commitment by the company and senior management. The textual heart of the book is Chapter 4: Methodology of Waste Minimization (pp.15-39), and this is followed by details of Practical Techniques (Chapter 5;. Chapter 5 is excellent and is interspersed with case studies. This book should be essential reading for undergraduates, and should also provide a useful and concise overview for industry. Highly recommended.
