Versuche mit dimerem Styrol zeigten, daB das Dimere stark ketteniibertragend wirkt und fiir die Anomalitat der Molekulargewichte zu Beginn der thermischen Styrolpolymerisation verantwortlich zu machen ist. Es wurde nachgewiesen, daB bei der thermischen Polymerisation dasselbe Dimere entsteht, wie bei der jodinhibierten Polymerisation nach MA YO^).

SUMMARY:

Experiments with dimere styrene showed, that the dimere has a strong chain-transfer effect and is responsible for the anomaly of the high molecular-weights a t the beginning of the thermal polymerisation of styrene.
