He followed with three more true-crime novels, including Infamous (Putnam, 2010). His original short story "Last Fair Deal Gone Down" (in Busted Flush Press' 2009 reprint of Crossroad Blues) was nominated for the Edgar Award. Atkins lives on a historic farm outside Oxford, Mississippi, with his family.
