## Abstract ## BACKGROUND: Dapsone, used for __Pneumocystis jiroveci__ (PCP) prophylaxis, is associated with increased risk of methemoglobinemia. Absence of cytochrome b5 reductase enzyme activity causes congenital methemoglobinemia, but its role in dapsoneβassociated methemoglobinemia is unknown.
