Solidification of Petroleum.--Even the lightest petroleums may be partially solidified, by mixing them with an aqueous decoction of soapwort. A mucilage forms, which is so thick that the containing vessel can be overturned without any portion running out. If a few drops of phenic acid are stirred into the mucilage, it soon becomes liquid again.--La Nature.
