✦ Synopsis
In June this year a symposium was held in London to launch the British Cryogenics Council's safety manual 'Cryogenics safety manual -a guide to good practice'. This manual was the result of five years' work by the BCC Safety Panel -a working panel drawn from several diverse companies concerned with low temperature plants.
The object of this meeting was to introduce the safety manual to engineers working in low temperature plants and to promote discussion on the subject matter and to even suggest omissions or amendments which should be made to the manual. This meeting was followed in July by a week of open days at low temperature plants all over the country, which again introduced the manual to the people who would, it is hoped, be using it. These open days proved to be very successful. A member of the Safety Panel was present at each plant to discuss points arising from the manual and its practical application. All that remains now is to hope that this manual will be accepted by those working on low temperature plants as 'a guide to good practice'.
