✦ Synopsis

Relatively few cases of [1,7] hydrogen migration in polyene systems are known outside the classic isomerization of precalciferol to calcifero1.l At this time we wish to describe the thermolysis of 3-(trans-2-methylcyclopropyl)-1,2-butadiene 4 and the reactions which take place in the products therefrom. These transformations provide further insight and evidence for the [1,7] hydrogen migration in simple acyclic heptatrienes.

## Abstract Certain abundant peaks in the electron impact mass spectra of a series of __trans__‐4‐benzoylamino‐2__H__‐1‐benzopyran‐3‐ols involve the formation of a substituted __N__‐alkylated benzonitrile ion by a mechanism involving migration of oxygen, in a postulated four‐centre skeletal rearran
