✦ Synopsis
N-phenyl (PDMA) and N-methyl ("A) dimethacrylamide and unsubstituted dimthacrylamide (DMA) have been polymerized in polyvinylchloride film, and the resulting polymers and oligomers were analyzed by infrared and lH-NBIR spectroawtry. The structure of poly (PDMA) and poly (MDDHA) corresponds to five-membered recurring units without unsaturated side groupr. (DDHA) contains both five-and six-membered ring. as well as some unsaturation. The structures are however identical to those of the corresponding polymers prepared in benzene solution. the cyclopolymerization of there diwthacrylamides. A further infrared analysis of the monomers in solution and in the solid state (KBr pellets and PVC films) suggests that the monomers preexist already in a conformation suitable for cyclopolymerization.
