✦ Synopsis
Levene's model of spatial fitness variation (Levene, 1953) is extended to include cases in which matings between individuals from the same niche are less frequent than under global random mating. Temporal fitness variation is also incorporated. Levene's original conditions for protected polymorphism appear to be invariant under these extensions. An important special case of this model is the model of differential selection between the two sexes, for which some new results are obtained.
