✦ Synopsis


The photopolymerization of maleic anhydride (Manh) was carried out in the presence of 2,4,8,10-tetraoxaspiro [5,5]undecane (TU) at 40' in vacuo without initiator to give the hygroscopic oligomer of Manh having a TU unit as each of the end-groups and a small amount of the cyclic dimer of Manh. The initiation mechanism for this oligomerization was discussed.
