✦ Synopsis
We repclrt near-Doppler-limited Raman spectra of the VI fundamentaI in methane using direct cw stknulated Raman gain spectroscopy enhanced by a muhipass optical cell. 25 -MHz resolution makes possiile a correct analysis of the fine structure of the vr band of methane_ We present line assigmnents to J = 10 and spectroscopic constants for this band which differ sigrdfiamly from pr&ous analyses.
