✦ Synopsis

In the framework of the gradient approach for the energy functional for an electron-ion system of liquid metal droplets the exact expression is obtained for the first two terms of the surface tension and first curvature corrections for the electron and ion chemical potentials by expansion in inverse powers of the droplet radius. The curvature correction to the surface tension is evaluated in characteristics for the planar surface. The problem of applying a direct variational method for the curved interface is discussed.
