Stress-corrosion cracking of austenitic stainless steels continues to be a major cause of concern in all nuclear plant. This paper discusses some of the issues that continue to obscure, rather than illuminate the subject.

Microbial electrolysis cells (MECs) provide a high-yield method for producing hydrogen from renewable biomass. One challenge for commercialization of the technology is a lowcost and highly efficient cathode. Stainless steel (SS) is very inexpensive, and cathodes made of this material with high speci
The local substitution of AISI 316L stainless steel grade type by a new ultrahigh-strength Cr-Mn austenitic stainless steel was assessed in order to eliminate the high temperature fatigue crack propagation, mainly due to thermal shock, that has been verified in some exhaust systems of naval gas turb
## Abstract Ellipsometry has been used to study the influence of Benzylamine, Benzotriazole and Hexamethylenetetramine on the growth of anodic oxides on iron and on AISI 304 stainless steel in borateβbuffer solutions. On iron, a limitation of the growthβrate has been observed for these substances
