In this study HLA-DQA1 and TNF genes in addition to HLA-DQB1 gene were investigated at DNA level for elucidation of the genetic backgrounds of Type 1 (insulin-dependent) diabetes mellitus in Japanese subjects. DNA, amplified by polymerase chain reaction, was subjected to allele specific oligonucleot
