Millie Sanders’ happily ever after is suddenly destroyed when her husband of 35 years comes home one day and informs her that he is leaving her for another woman. To make matters worse, the other woman happens to be her “friend” and hairdresser, Delilah Osborne!

After months of mourning and moping around the house, she stumbles upon a help wanted ad in the newspaper for the perfect job as an assistant cruise ship director. Before Millie can talk herself out of it, she fills out the application and mails it in. Much to her surprise, not only does the company contact her, they hire her!

The character in this story is developing. This author has a great sense of character and plot development. I love a good series and even better a good author and this book has both. ★★★★★ Good Clean Fun I thoroughly enjoyed this Cruise Ship Christian Cozy Mystery and my introduction to the author, Hope Callaghan. In fact, I just bought her 12 book set of this series and and her Garden Girl series so I can keep right on reading. The writing is clean and crisp. The story line is easy to follow, and the mystery has just enough twists and turns so as to keep the reader hooked on the story and guessing as who did the murder. I really liked the characters and the setting, a cruise ship, too. I look forward to spending many more hours reading about Millie, the assistant cruise director and mystery solver, as well as the rest of the ship's crew. -Colleen

Hope Callaghan's series' are fun and addictive. UNLIKE many "cozy" mysteries, her books are well-written, grammatically correct and intriguing. ★★★★★ Starboard Secrets: A Cruise Ship Cozy Mystery Starboard Secrets: A Cruise Ship Cozy Mystery...is a book that reminds me of a Murder She Wrote story. Millie is divorced from her husband Roger, who was a private investigator. Millie helped him out with paperwork and other things, so she had a background in sleuthing so to speak. At least on a very basic level. This comes in handy as when Millie decides to take a job on a cruise ship, the first thing she encounters after boarding on ship, is a dead body. Olivia, the woman who worked in the gift shop, to be exact. Millie decides she wants justice for the woman and finds out that Olivia had friends and just as many if not more enemies. The more people Millie encountered on board the more suspects she adds to her list. With the help of Annette, who works in the kitchen, they put together the clues and even set up their own sting, to find the killer. It is a well written story, with likeable characters, and is a great introduction to Millie and the staff of the ship for the other books in the series. - angelpeaches

I enjoy the newness of the setting, I haven't read any books set on a cruise ship, so I find this exciting. It's hopeful and light hearted. There's nothing graphic or inappropriate just a good clean mystery. Following Millie on her adventure from one life chapter to another is a fun read. I've read some of the other reviews and I think they're overly critical. The first book in a series sets up the characters and slowly builds relationships. Is it 100% believable or true to life? No. It's entertainment!! Just like movies and television. If you're looking for true to life books stay away from cozy mysteries.
