✦ Synopsis

In the hexagonal G+[Pr(Ch34] -Hz0 compound the [Pt(CN)41'-complex ions are arranged forming a helix. Under UV excitation the crystals strongly emit light of different polarization_ It is possible to correiate the emission peak energies to the Pt-Pt distance of adjacent complexes in the helix and to determine the helix radius just from these data and the lattice constant c.
