Abstract
The crystallization kinetics of polyβ3,3βbis(chloromethyl) oxacyclobutane has been investigated by the method of dilatometry, and at the same time the growth rate of spherulites was measured under the polarizing microscopy. Isothermal crystallizations of this polymer were carried out at constant crystallization temperature over the range of 150β160Β°C., and the rate constants were calculated by the Avrami equation. Crystallization proceeds through a mechanism of homogeneous nucleation and fibril growth. The growth rates of spherulites were measured at various constant crystallization temperatures of 75β140Β°C. Under a polarizing microscopy, the spherulites formed are seen to be of two morphological types; one is fourβcornered and another is petalβshaped.
