✦ Synopsis


We propose a simple and efficient method for solving the population balance equation in crystallization in the most general case: unsteady state, size dependant growth rate, agglomeration or breakage of crystals. Implemented on a computer, this method quickly gives the concentrations of the different chemical species and of the solid versus time. It also allows one to represent at any time the crystal size distribution on a histogram where the number of intervals and their limits are completely free computing parameters chosen by the user.
