✦ Synopsis

The crystal structure of DySr2Cu2.7Mo0.3O7.2 and DySr2Cu2.7Cr0.3O7.2 was solved by the X-ray powder diffraction method. The space group of DySr2Cu2.7Mo0.3O7.2 (Mr ‫؍‬ 653.29) is P4/mmm, with lattice parameters a ‫؍‬ 3.8262(1) A s , c ‫؍‬ 11.5492(2) A s , and Z ‫؍‬ 1. The space group of DySr2Cu2.7Cr0.3O7.2 (Mr ‫؍‬ 640.11) is P4/mmm, with lattice parameters a ‫؍‬ 3.8531(1) A s , c ‫؍‬ 11.3804(2) A s , and Z ‫؍‬ 1. Rietveld refinement results in the discrepancy factors RB ‫؍‬ 7.93 and Rwp ‫؍‬ 3.76 for the Mo compound and RB ‫؍‬ 9.76 and Rwp ‫؍‬ 4.07 for the Cr compound.

The new bulk, melt-textured grown composite Nd,,,Y,~,Ba,Cu,O,-, , which also forms large single crystals, has the standard high-T, 123 orthorhombic structure when oxygenated and a very high critical current density in a magnetic field of 0.5 T. Both of these results were not anticipated, as the Nd a
